T h e approach described here is distinct from all other reconstruction strategies in the sense that it is based o n the r a w projection data, with incorporation of both knowledge and the requirements of the user, to form a processed data set that is selectively enhanceable while providing object images and quantitation indepen dently. These facilities represent a powerful set of tools with great potential that can be realized with further development.
